Jesús Mª Aizpurua
Dr. Jesús Mª Aizpurua is Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-founder of Miramoon Pharma SL, with over 30 years of experience in the fields of medicinal chemistry, advanced synthetic methodologies, structural spectroscopic analysis, and patent management.
He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where he obtained a Degree in Chemistry. His initial doctoral research focused on the chemistry of novel synthetic beta-lactam antibiotics, followed by a postdoctoral stay at the CNRS of the University of Bordeaux. From 1997 to 2025, he held the Chair of Organic Chemistry at the UPV/EHU as a full professor, developing his research activity in the field of peptidomimetics and "click" triazoles with therapeutic potential.
As a full professor, he led the Sustainable Catalysis: Methods and Computation research group at the Korta Research Center in San Sebastián. He has also served as Scientific Director of the UPV/EHU's General NMR Service. Professor Aizpurua is the author of 141 peer-reviewed publications (citation H-index = 37), has supervised 22 doctoral theses, and has been the inventor of 7 international patents.
Since receiving the M. Laborde-Werlinden Innovation Award in 2018 for the Miramoon Pharma project, Dr. Aizpurua has been strongly committed to the company's R&D activities, which span drug discovery, chemistry, manufacturing, and intellectual property management.
